Planning supervision overview
Safety Aware Limited is managed by a fully qualified health and safety professional with 28 years experience in industry, 15 years of which have been associated with the field of health and safety.
Safety Aware can act as Planning Supervisors for projects of any nature or size, anywhere in the UK. In addition to the duties outlined in the CDM Regulations and if required:
  • We will assist clients, designers and contractors to comply with health and safety legislation outside the remit of the CDM regulations i.e. Risk Assessments

  • We will attend progress meetings as part of our normal duties under CDM and we can monitor the principal contractor’s progress against his stated aims and prepare regular visit reports.

  • The principal contractor remains solely responsible for site safety, but our extra monitoring and advice assists in the maintenance of site safety, reducing risk of an accident.
The Health and Safety Executive advises that when establishing the competence of a planning Supervisor, a client shall take account of the following:
  • Knowledge of types of construction work
  • Knowledge of health and safety legislation, regulations and guidance information
  • The ability to work with and co-ordinate designers
  • The support of a company which can provide suitable resources including library information
  • The ability to provide adequate time and resources
  • Membership of appropriate technical bodies (IIRSM, IOSH, MAPS, CIOB etc).

Within Safety Aware, all of our planning supervisors and site inspectors have substantial experience of health and safety within the construction industry. We have a team with an overall broad knowledge of construction including mechanical and electrical services and civil engineering.
