CDM Co-ordinator

Safety Aware Limited is managed by a fully qualified health and safety professional with 35 years experience in industry, 15 years of which have been associated with the field of health and safety.

Safety Aware can act as CDM Co-ordinator for projects of any nature or size, anywhere in the UK. In addition to the duties outlined in the CDM Regulations 2007 and if required:

  • We will assist clients, designers and contractors to comply with health and safety legislation outside the remit of the CDM regulations, i.e. Risk Assessments.
  • We will attend progress meetings as part of our normal duties under CDM and we can monitor the principal contractor’s progress against his stated aims and prepare regular visit reports.
  • The principal contractor remains solely responsible for site safety, but our extra monitoring and advice assists in the maintenance of site safety, reducing risk of an accident.

The Health and Safety Executive advises that when establishing the competence of a CDM Co-ordinator, a client shall take account of the following:-

  • Knowledge of types of construction work
  • Knowledge of health and safety legislation, regulations and guidance information
  • The ability to work with and co-ordinate designers
  • The support of a company which can provide suitable resources including library information
  • The ability to provide adequate time and resources
  • Membership of appropriate technical bodies (IIRSM, IOSH, MAPS, CIOB etc).

Within Safety Aware, all of our CDM Co-ordinators and site inspectors have substantial experience of health and safety within the construction industry. We have a team with an overall broad knowledge of construction including mechanical land electrical services and civil engineering.

When appointing Safety Aware Limited for either CDM Co-ordinator or Occupational Health and Safety services, our clients gain additional benefits and value for money.

  • Technical Support from a network of core discipline professionally qualified staff
  • Sufficient technical and human resources to respond quickly
  • A database of competent designers and principal contractors
  • CDM Co-ordination is carried out to a pre-set standard, which exceeds the requirements of the CDM Regulations 1994 and 2007.
  • The technical resources to provide the Health and Safety File on CD-ROM, eliminating the requirement for excessive paperwork.
  • A company with PI insurance for all its professional services, including CDM Co-ordination.
