Safety Aware can act as CDM Co-ordinator for projects of any nature or size, anywhere in the UK. In addition to the duties outlined in the CDM Regulations 2007 and if required:
We will assist clients, designers and contractors to comply with health and safety legislation outside the remit of the CDM regulations, i.e. Risk Assessments.
We will attend progress meetings as part of our normal duties under CDM and we can monitor the principal contractor’s progress against his stated aims and prepare regular visit reports.
The principal contractor remains solely responsible for site safety, but our extra monitoring and advice assists in the maintenance of site safety, reducing risk of an accident.
The Health and Safety Executive advises that when establishing the competence of a CDM Co-ordinator, a client shall take account of the following:-
Knowledge of types of construction work
Knowledge of health and safety legislation, regulations and guidance information
The ability to work with and co-ordinate designers
The support of a company which can provide suitable resources including library information
The ability to provide adequate time and resources
Membership of appropriate technical bodies (IIRSM, IOSH, MAPS, CIOB etc).
