Thomas Heselden CMIOSH RSP PgDip MIIRSM RMaPS ACIOB Director and Senior Health & Safety Consultant/Trainer
Thomas has 35 years' experience in the construction industry, training as an architectural technician, design engineer, estimator and quality manager before moving into project management and finally as a Health & Safety consultant. Experience has been gained from working on commercial retail parks, superstores, pharmaceutical project, power generation, domestic housing including working on MOD and NATO construction projects. He has detailed knowledge and extensive experience in civil and construction projects.
Working as a Health & Safety Consultant initially for private practice, Thomas has represented employers from numerous business sectors ranging from pharmaceutical, railway (including London Underground), paper production and recycling, tele-housing, housing associations, local authorities, developers and contractors.
Thomas formulated safety Aware Limited in March 2002 and the work load has doubled year on year.
An accredited lecturer for IOSH, NEBOSH, CCNSG, LUL SIS, CITB SMSTS and CSCS, Thomas has also attended courses for Confined Spaces, Fire Training, Scaffold Inspection, Abrasive Wheels, and holds two types of Fork Lift Truck driving licences. He also holds a range of training certificates to enable him to work on London Underground projects.
Toni Freeman Tech IOSH Administration Manager and Health & Safety Consultant/Trainer
Toni worked for Barclays Bank for eight years, being promoted rapidly over four years to the Treasurers Department before leaving to start a family. Upon return to work she worked at a local school as a special needs assistant, which required completion of many specialist courses run by Kent County Council.
Toni joined Safety Aware in June 2006 as Administration Manager and has since completed First Aid training, CCNSG Safety Passport, CSCS General Operations test, and most recently the NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health.
Toni now splits her time between administration and health & safety consultancy/training.
Tomek Sladden Tech IOSH Health & Safety Consultant/Trainer
Tomek initially worked as an area manager within a national security company where his duties included risk management.
Tomek joined the fire service in 2000 and is currently involved in fire fighting, safety representative, and more recently fire risk assessments and training.
Tomek fulfills training and consultancy services for Safety Aware on a regular basis.
Andrew Price Tech SP Health & Safety Consultant/Trainer
Andy has been training for over 20 years and specialises in management training and construction-related topics, but is also accredited for IOSH courses.
Andy established SME Training and Consultants Ltd and frequently lectures on behalf of Safety Aware.
Gerry works for a major construction company as health & safety manager responsible for a team of safety professionals throughout the UK. He lectures frequently on the topics of construction, health & safety and the environment. The courses are both in-house, bespoke and public.
Gerry occasionally lectures for Safety Aware at our training facility in Chatham, Kent.
Peter started employment in the construction industry and achieved City and Guilds in Brickwork and Building Technology. After three years, he left construction to join the Metropolitan Police. During 31 years of service, he became an Advanced Home Office instructor and an expert witness for the Service. Peter holds diplomas in Management and Human/Canine behaviour. He gained an in-sight into health and safety issues within a large organisation through his work within the Police Federation as health and safety representative.
On leaving the Police Service he took up employment as a health and safety advisor to the construction industry working for the Building Safety Group, during the three years gaining both the General and Construction NEBOSH certificates. He then took employment at IPS International Ltd as a Health and Safety Training Manager, where he trained the NEBOSH General certificate and IOSH courses. Peter also trained other health and safety courses for electrical, engineering and care home organisations. Consultancy was another part of the role within IPS International which saw him dealing with some of the largest companies with in Kent. During this time he started working towards the diploma two in health and safety.
His current role at Safety Aware Ltd as the Senior Health and Safety consultant involves him in training all the health and safety courses as an accredited CITB trainer for the Site Management Safety Training Scheme and a consultancy role for large organisations in London and the Southeast. He is a Member of the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management and the association for Project Safety. (Planning Supervisor).
